Fire Safety

We all have a responsibility to be aware of and mitigate certain wildfire risks.  Wildfires are inevitable and can be due to natural events, accidental, or by a deliberate act of arson.  Regardless of the cause for a wildfire, embers may travel aloft and put your home at risk.

Every year, the Oak Hills Homeowner Association has the grassy areas of the greenbelt mowed in the June/July time frame, depending on the wetness of the season.  Cal-Fire also comes out and weed whacks a fire safety break behind all the homes, trims any low hanging branches, and removes dead trees.

What You Can Do

  • Reduce the risk to your property as well as the entire neighborhood by employing firewise principles around your property.

  • If you live near the greenbelt, check to make sure you do not have any unnecessary fire load behind or to the side of your property.  While you do not own the greenbelt property, a wildfire will not respect property lines and will surge through any yard clipping and brush that may have been collected.  This fire load may not have been put there by you, but we need to work together to remove it.

  • Notify the OHHA office if you are aware of any downed or dead trees.
